What is the organizational structure of the EDC
The EDC is structured as a not-for-profit corporation. An eight member volunteer Board of Directors oversees the policy direction, activities and budget of the Corporation. The Chamber of Commerce and the Village each appoint four directors to serve four-year terms. An EDC Director must be a resident, a business property owner, or an officer of a Glen Ellyn business or corporation.
The Village President, the Chamber of Commerce President, and the Planning Director of the Village serve as ex-officio members on the Board of Directors. This structure ensures excellent internal communication on matters related to the business climate and economic development.
The Executive Director acts as the spokesperson and liaison and manages the day-to-day operations and activities of the Corporation.
How is the EDC funded?
EDC funding comes from two sources -- the Village, and a Special Service Area (SSA) tax levy on commercial properties within the corporate limits. No residential property taxes are involved in EDC revenues.
